Ph.D, VP Product Development
Dr. Helgerson has 20 years of R&D and product development experience in the biotechnology and medical device industries. Prior to joining CerMed, Dr. Helgerson was the VP of R&D and Chief Scientific Officer at LoneStar Heart and Cardio Polymers (formerly Symphony Medical) where he developed implantable medical devices.
Dr. Helgerson held positions of increasing responsibility at Baxter HealthCare Corp from 1991 to 2007, leaving as a Senior R&D Director in the BioScience Division. There he directed R&D activities focused on developing bio-therapeutic and medical device products for both wound healing and cardiovascular disease applications as well as R&D and manufacturing process development for biopharmaceutical products including recombinant proteins and monoclonal antibodies.
Dr. Helgerson holds a Ph.D Degree in Biophysics from Purdue University and a B.S. Degree in Physics from the University of Puget Sound.
